# Presign a company-document upload

> Get a short-lived presigned S3 URL to `PUT` the entity's company
document to directly from the browser (the bytes never transit our
server — max 20 MB). Then confirm the upload with
`POST /entities/{id}/documents`, passing the returned `s3_key`.
Requires `documents:write`.

Step 1 of the assisted-lane company-document upload. Returns a short-lived
presigned S3 URL to `PUT` the entity's document to **directly from the browser**
— the file bytes never transit our server (max 20 MB).

Then confirm the upload with
[Attach a company document](/api-reference/entities/document-attach), passing the
returned `s3_key`. Requires the `documents:write` scope.
